Wooden Skiffs & Dories
At Ray’s River Dories we build two classic flat bottom wooden boats that differ from V-bottom drifters in a few key areas. When powered by an outboard motor they require less horsepower, plane at a lower speed, and are generally more fuel-efficient.
Willamette River Skiff
Willamette River Skiff is a do-it-all flat bottomed skiff that is ideal for a multitude of tasks. When powered by a 10-25 hp outboard motor, it’s perfectly suited for fishing, hunting, crabbing, pleasure cruises and exploring the water with the family.
Wooden Ocean Dory
Wooden Ocean Dory is a lighter version of the legendary fishing dories built and used in Pacific City on the Oregon Coast. Traditionally, these boats are 20-24 feet long and ran with 70 hp motors, positioned in a well. Ours are 17.5 – 19 feet and run with a 25-50 hp motor mounted off the transom.

Long-time customer, Danny McGinley’s skiff, powered with outboard jet.
